Overview
1. Purpose
This guide summarizes commonly used architectural interior and exterior coating systems for concrete/CMU, structural and miscellaneous metals, concrete ceilings, glazed tile, wood, PVC, stucco, metal panels, doors/frames, pedestrian decks, sealers and related building surfaces. Systems are organized by substrate and exposure so they can be used across institutional, municipal, commercial, and similar facilities.
2. How to Use This Guide
• Start with the Quick Locator Index if you know the substrate or building component. Find the applicable system in the schedule below.
• If you know the substrate and exposure, go directly to the system tables and match the Condition and Typical Locations.
• Use Surface Preparation, Coat Schedule, and Total Build for budgeting, work-order planning, and contractor pricing.
• Contact ACC to confirm project-specific exposure, existing coating condition, color/gloss, aesthetics, or full CSI specification requirements.
3. Basis of Design
Products scheduled herein are manufactured by Tnemec Company, Inc. (with select exterior metal-panel-roof and water-repellent systems by Tex-Cote LLC, noted where used) and are listed as the basis of design for the performance, appearance, and warranty characteristics described.
4. Not Covered in This Guide
Typical Locations are intentionally broad so the guide can be used across building types. Resinous flooring systems are in the companion Short-Form System Reference Guide — Resinous Flooring. Facility-specific process systems are maintained in the separate ACC water and wastewater references.
5. General Application & Warranty Notes
• Follow the current manufacturer product data sheet for substrate, ambient, dew-point, humidity, ventilation, surface-profile, and application requirements.
• Verify dry film thickness during and after application. For decorative, reinforced, or resinous systems, consider a mock-up or field sample before full-scale application.
• Concrete/CMU surface-profile requirements vary by system; confirm the specified ICRI CSP and verify surface preparation before full-scale work.
• Confirm optional topcoats, alternate finishes, color, and gloss selections with the Owner/Architect before ordering or application.
• Warranty terms vary by system and project; contact ACC or the manufacturer to confirm applicable coverage, including exterior metal-panel color/gloss warranty options.
