SECTION 09 96 00 — HIGH-PERFORMANCE COATINGS
Architectural Guide Specification — Interior and Exterior Coating Systems
Specifier Note: This guide specification is provided as a technical resource by Atlantic Coating Consultants (ACC), an independent representative for Tnemec, TEX-COTE and Epoxytec, and is compiled from ACC's standard Tnemec coating systems. It is a template for architectural projects of any type — schools and universities, police and fire stations, jails and courthouses, municipal buildings, airports, museums, hospitals, offices, warehouses and similar facilities — and is not a project-specific specification. Systems in the Coating System Schedule are organized by substrate, condition and duty level; each is cross-referenced to its ACC system code. Select the systems appropriate to the project type and scope, add typical locations for that building type, and delete the remainder. Delete all Specifier Notes before issuing. VERIFY ALL PRODUCT DESIGNATIONS, COATS, DRY FILM THICKNESSES AND SURFACE PREPARATION REQUIREMENTS WITH ATLANTIC COATING CONSULTANTS OR TNEMEC COMPANY BEFORE ISSUING FOR BID OR CONSTRUCTION. This product selection guide is written according to the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) Format, including MasterFormat, SectionFormat, and PageFormat, contained in the CSI Manual of Practice. This specification is only a guide listing various coating system options and should not be used as a final specification. Tnemec Company, Inc. is not liable in any way for revisions to, or use of, this product guide specification by any end user. A qualified design professional should review and edit this document to suit project requirements and coordinate this Section with other specification sections and the drawings.
This Section is based on the products of Tnemec Company, Inc., 123 West 23rd Ave, North Kansas City, MO 64116, www.tnemec.com. This Section uses the term "Architect"; change this term throughout to match the term used to identify the design professional as defined in the General and Supplementary Conditions.
Specifier Note: Scope selection: for new construction, retain the "New / Uncoated" groups (C1, C2, S1, EC1, ES1, ES3.1-3.2); for maintenance and repaint work, retain the "Existing / Previously Coated" groups (C3, S2, EC2, ES2, ES3.3) and offer full-removal systems as separate alternates. Resinous flooring is specified in Section 09 67 23; wastewater and potable-water immersion service in Sections 09 96 23 and 09 96 24.
